Narcissism Creates Isolation. Healing Requires Support.

Narcissism Creates Isolation. Healing Requires Support.

In narcissistic relationships, the victim often shoulders all the physical, emotional, and administrative labor because partners with narcissistic traits systematically avoid accountability, shift blame, and exploit their partner's natural empathy, competence, and high work ethic to manage the relationship. You were never supposed to be the one to carry an entire relationship. That's not what healthy is. In these relationships your empathy becomes the tool used against you. They will take advantage of how capable and driven you are, and rely on you to naturally solve all of the problems, unless the problem is them.

One of the hardest things to witness is how in these relationships when you notice emotional shifts, you are the one left to be responsible to stop the fight. Usually you are in fight or flight, or worse, fawn. Your narcissistic partner or parent relied on the ability to regulate the household and stabilize the environment so they weaponized efforts that included cultural and societal conditioning which often teaches people that hard work fixes relationships. They exploit this mindset, framing every conflict as a failure of the your commitment rather than their own lack of participation.

Why can't you fix it? They avoid accountability. True intimacy requires mutual vulnerability. Because a narcissistic partner views relationships transactionally and defensively shields a fragile core, they refuse emotional labor or basic domestic contributions to avoid feeling inadequate. Healthy relationsips require mutual effort, accountability and care. If you aren't getting that, it's time to evaluate what it is you want out of your relationship.

You may be in a cycle of control. Through intermittent reinforcement, alternating between charm and withdrawal, they create a trauma bond. You may find yourself walking on eggshells, constantly working harder to bring back the good times and avoid conflict. This is meant to keep you where you are, and to keep them satisifed. Not happy, I want you share. They aren't usually happy, but they have a need and need you to fulfill it.

That's not a healthy relationship. Learn to say no. Learn what is equal. Learn how to build a support system. If there’s a need, leave. There are domestic violence advocates that can help you.

The real medicine that I am here to support you with, is to find the inner happiness again while you learn to grey rock them so that you can heal. In our relationship coaching it's about finding the Butterfly Hug, Shaking out the Ick, breathing in joy, and learning what attachments show up as you learn to soar again.
