March Madness (The Good Kind)

March Madness (The Good Kind)

March has a reputation for being a little… chaotic. Three days ago we had monsoon rains. Two days ago we had beautiful sunny skies. Yesterday I woke up to snow. Between seasonal shifts, full schedules, and the sense that the year is suddenly speeding up, it can feel like life has entered a kind of “March Madness.”

But here’s a reframe I’ve been thinking about:

What if the madness is simply momentum?

Spring is a natural turning point. Energy begins to rise again after winter’s slower pace. Ideas that were quietly forming start asking for attention. Goals that felt distant suddenly feel possible. We're entering the beginning of the Zodiac wheel, and that feels fresh.

I started thinking today while I was in my Tantric Yoga II class as we were talking about the Kundalini and the subtle body. I channeled in my book, Exploring Aromatherapy, "There are actually 114 chakras in the body. When we practice the postures in Sun salutation, it is designed to impact all the vital chakras and open you up for energy reception throughout the day. Two of the 114 chakras are outside our own physiological framework. These are the points where the energy channels the body. These energy channels are called “nadis,” and there are 72,000 in our body...Beyond the others, we are told that only 108 need actual work, and they will open up the other four." Further in The Awakened Heart that "When we talk about kundalini, most people think of it as their spinal column energy body. There is a myth that the kundalini is the connection from the root chakra to the crown chakra. While this is a part of it, as the energies of the kundalini are very activated by our vagus nerve, which we know is managed by the heart." If you read the original texts, kundalini is Yoni, the womb of the world, the source of the three main powers in Tantra on the Tara Shakti, which is the power of consciousness, the ground of being, the essence of all that is each of Shakti, this power of will and nature, Shakti, which is like like also Giana Shakti, the power of insight or wisdom of knowledge.

And through the earliest intimations, as we see in the beginning about our Tantra, she's not even referred to by name yet kundalini. But as this force, this unfolds through our central channel and unlike modern understandings and Hatha yoga, it's not just a process of assent. Usually the process of energy moving upwards with spirit we experience. It's kind of like this transcendental thrust, this liberatory impulse of expansion, of opening up to that which is beyond. But we also find reference to Kundalini in upper Kundalini that also descends through the central channel, and that when the two of these combine and unite in the central channel via or reality is revealed. So that also intimates an integrative function of Kundalini, too, not just the transcendental function in yoga. We are told this process experientially is not just an upward ascending process, but the experience of the divine as descending and flooding and permeating every cell and facet of our humanity, which I think really is the crux of the tantric path, really a synthesis of both.

When I channeled about kundalini being more dimensional planes, what came to me was that "The eleventh plane is the Lower World of the shamanic realms. This "so below" is where we connect with our spirit animals, ancestors, our DNA and the essence of creation, Pachamama. We connect to the seeds of existence and the plant medicine that is so abundantly tuning to our frequencies. The twelfth plane is the Upper World for the shamanic realms. That "so above" connects us to our teachers, our higher selves, angels, soul contracts and our Akashic records. This is what I tap into a lot when I am writing my books, especially the books that are more derived from cosmic theology. When these all align, they form that thirteenth plane of our current life container, which is always changing and renewing every several seconds."

Instead of trying to control every moving piece, this month can be a great time to practice intentional direction in the moment of now. In Yoga we do this practice with the kundalini by considering where are you thrusting... upward in downward facing dog? Or is it something else?

A few questions you might reflect on this week:

What is gaining momentum in my life right now?

What deserves my energy, and what doesn’t?

What one small action would move me forward this week?

Remember, progress rarely happens through perfect plans. It happens through consistent, aligned steps.

If things feel a little chaotic this month, you’re not alone. I have had self-love come up in every session and every divination that I have done this week. Sometimes the very energy that feels messy is also the energy that creates meaningful change within ourselves.

If you’re ready to keep the momentum going, you can book your next coaching session here:

Looking forward to continuing the work together.
