What If Healing Didn't Start With the Wound?
For years, I've watched people come into healing believing they have to start with their deepest pain.
They think they need to revisit the trauma.. find the root cause... break through ... push harder or just go deeper. But what if that isn't how transformation actually works? What if healing doesn't begin with the wound? What if it begins with what your nervous system can safely hold today?
This question has been reshaping the way I work. I wanted to functionally show you that the noise isn't the problem. Recently, someone shared something that stayed with me. "I feel like I'm right there, but always a step behind truly connecting with the messages and the noise I get." I understood exactly what they meant. So many people describe feeling close to their intuition, close to clarity, close to themselves but unable to trust what they're sensing.
Our first instinct is often to assume we need to strengthen intuition.I don't think that's the real work. I think the signal has been there all along. What most of us experience is interference. This is conditioning, fear of being wrong, the pressure to perform, or the need for certainty. The internal dialogue between what we know, what we've been taught, and what feels safe to believe. The noise isn't evidence that you've lost yourself. It's evidence that many parts of you are trying to keep you safe.
Let's start with a different kind of conversation. I've started thinking about this as a dialectical process, not in the sense of winning an argument, or even the deeper behavioral theory, but in the sense of holding two seemingly opposite truths with enough compassion that something new can emerge. One part of you says that you know this is true, but another says you shouldn't trust yourself. Neither part is the enemy. Each developed for a reason. One protects your capacity to imagine, create, and connect. The other protects you from disappointment, ridicule, uncertainty, or harm. Healing isn't about silencing one voice so the other can win. It's about understanding what each one is trying to protect.
When those parts no longer have to fight for control, something remarkable happens. The noise begins to soften. Not because you've become someone different, but because you've become more internally coherent. So what if we follow the pace of the nervous system?
This has also changed the questions I ask because instead of asking someone what they want to heal, I am more interested in asking what feels safe enough to be true right now. This is because the body has it's own wisdom. Your body already knos the order in which to work. It's not easy work, because as we uncover or peel back a layer, emotions will show up. Emotions, I have personally found, can be hard to hold space for. We want to run from them, but the body is trying to show you someething deeper. Don't run... the body knows which door can be opened without overwhelming the whole system. It knows when protection is still necessary, and it knows when curiosity has become possible.
Transformation doesn't happen because we force insight. It happens because we create enough safety for insight to become embodied. That means we don't rush toward the deepest wound, even if it shows up. We begin where the nervous system already has enough capacity to stay present. Only then do we move forward.
The work often begins with simple questions. Not because they're easy, only because they bypass performance. Simple questions don't demand answers, instead they invite relationship. You don't need to be fixed. This is why I don't think my work is about fixing people or even helping people become someone new. It's about creating enough space for the person beneath the adaptations to become visible again. I am here for the transitions. Sometimes that involves archetypes, sometimes Human Design, sometimes astrology, sometimes shadow work, and sometimes simply listening to what the body has been trying to communicate all along. These aren't separate modalities, they're different languages describing the same unfolding. This is an unfolding that doesn't happen according to a checklist. Our work happens according to readiness.
The Phoenix Doesn't Force the Fire
The symbol of the phoenix has always represented transformation. But even the phoenix doesn't rise before the fire has finished its work. Transformation cannot be rushed. Insight cannot be forced. The psyche unfolds in the order it can safely embody. This work, or shift, or embodiment... however you look into it, is something that anyone can work with. Male, Female, Non-binary. Perhaps that's what healing has always been, because it's not about becoming someone else but attuning to who you always meant to be. You already embody a whole being. Instead it's slowly removing the interference until you can finally hear the quiet voice that has been waiting beneath the noise all along.
